The 4-Step Makeup Routine for Video Calls

May 06, 2020

As the weeks and months(!) of quarantine march on, more and more of our professional and social lives are taking place over video chat. From work meetings, workouts, and happy hours, it’s hard to go a day without jumping on some sort of video call. For many of us, the quest to find the happy medium between ‘just rolled out of bed’ and ‘full glam’ has been, well, a quest. Luckily, we found the perfect routine that makes you look awake and alive while still feeling breathable and comfortable enough for a full day of working from home. This simple 4-step makeup routine is quick, easy, provides major payoff, and is so good it might just carry over to our daily routine post-quarantine.

Step 1: Tinted moisturizer with SPF

In the world of quarantine, we’re all about multi-purpose, easy-to-use products. Choosing a tinted moisturizer with SPF not only takes the place of 3 products in one, but also helps speed up your morning routine. We love tinted moisturizers because they provide decent coverage without feeling cakey, which is perfect for working from home. Apply after your normal skincare routine with a beauty sponge or your hands, and don’t forget to blend down to your neck.

Tip: If needed, add a few dots of concealer below your eyes and around your nose to brighten up your face.

Tinted Moisturizers + SPF we love:

BareMinerals Complexion Rescue

ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint

Step 2: Bronzer

Bronzer, in our opinion, is a miracle product. Not only does it breathe life into your face, but it’s another multi-purpose product since it can also be used as a shadow or a subtle eyeliner. For your work from home look, use a fluffy brush to apply bronzer to all the high points of your face - the top of your forehead, cheekbones and nose (think where the sun would hit first). Then, use an eyeshadow brush and lightly blend bronzer into the crease of your eye, or an eyeliner brush to lightly line and define your eyes.

Bronzers we love:

Kjaer Weis Midsummer Powder Bronzer

Kosas The Sun Show Bronzer

Step 3: Tinted Brow Gel

Super defined, bold brows aren’t exactly necessary in quarantine, especially with a pared-down makeup routine. To sculpt and shape brows while also giving them a little extra definition, we love using a tinted gel like our Hi-Def Brow Gel. With just a few upward swipes, brows are set for the day!

Tip: Layer and build product for a more defined brow look.

Brow Gels we love:

RevitaLash Cosmetics Hi-Def Brow Gel

Step 4: Mascara

As lash-lovers we may be a bit biased, but a no makeup look is never truly complete without mascara. Enter: Double-Ended Volume Set, our 2-in-1 primer and mascara duo. The indigo blue primer brightens the eyes while the black mascara adds length and volume to tie together your work from home look.

Mascara we love:

RevitaLash Cosmetics Double-Ended Volume Set

With glowing skin, feathered brows and va-va-voom lashes, you’ll feel beautiful, put together and ready to conquer your day, even if it’s spent in sweatpants and on the couch.
