RevitaLash Cosmetics Gives Back

July 06, 2020

During this unprecedented time, we are proud to be an organization that stands ready to contribute to the less fortunate among us and serve as an agent of positive change. Philanthropy is at the core of RevitaLash Cosmetics, and we’ve committed to donating a portion of our profits to breast cancer initiatives year-round, not just in October. But it doesn’t end there. When COVID-19 began to shut down our nation and our economy, we listened, we learned, and we examined our options.

We’ve been listening to the people demanding equality and justice in the streets, and digging deep to learn more about ways in which racism is institutionalized in America, we turned to our partners at the Breast Cancer Research Center (BCRC) and asked them how this can be fought in the context of breast cancer research. According to the CDC, minority women are 40% more likely to die from breast cancer than white women. It’s so important that there is an accessible community program to help these women seek preventative screening as well as treatment. RevitaLash Cosmetics has sent a major contribution to fund the BCRC minority community outreach program which specifically helps minority women through their breast cancer journey.

RevitaLash Cosmetics has also began working with the Human Rights Watch organization to fund Senior Researcher Belkis Willie’s work on how the current Covid-19 pandemic has exacerbated existing inequalities in urban, low-income communities. In the coming months, Belkis will lead an investigation into the ways in which decades of legal neglect, inadequate access to quality healthcare, and discriminatory financial and social policies have increased Covid-19 risks and complications in urban, low-income communities.

In our community of Ventura and even Santa Barbara, many suffer food insecurity and for those without shelter, “Shelter-in-place” isn't an option. We have sent a large financial donation to Food Bank of Santa Barbara, a non-profit organization working to eliminate hunger by providing food, education and other resources to a network of hunger-relief charities and their communities.

We also reached out to our friends at Food Forward, a Ventura County organization that rescues over 500,000 pounds of surplus produce each week from fruit trees, farmers markets and the Los Angeles Wholesale Produce Market in order to donate to over 1,800 hunger relief agencies across 8 counties in Southern California, including our local school districts, senior, and homeless shelters. Food Forward received a major financial donation from RevitaLash Cosmetics this week.

Further, RevitaLash Cosmetics has delivered 675 beauty boxes to ALL of Ventura County’s  “lunch ladies” who have been going  into public schools every day, despite school not being open, to serve children and families in need of a hot meal. These front-line heroes, who are also some of the neediest in our local Ventura community, received a mix of RevitaLash Cosmetics products, plus a grocery store gift card as a show of personal thanks.

Meanwhile, we remain committed to our partners at City of Hope and Dr. Waisman’s Legacy Project, and our financial donation will be directed to that program as planned. The Legacy Project is aimed at new research of metastatic disease in breast cancer that will serve all communities.

As an organization, it is our duty to lift up our employees, our community, and those in need, and we are proud to be able to give back during such a trying time. We are dedicated to continuing to listen, learn, and grow our philanthropic efforts, and we look forward to bringing you along on our journey.
