Do’s & Don’ts for Getting Your Hair Through Quarantine

May 29, 2020

When it comes to quarantine, one thing just about everyone is struggling with is their hair. Men having resorted to shaving the whole thing, women are turning to box dye (gasp!), and hairstylists are wondering what messes they’ll be dealing with when they’re allowed back at their chair. Luckily, there are ways to prolong hair color, treat damage and address thinning hair, all while in quarantine. With a little love and a lot of patience, you’ll get through this awkward period and come out of it with healthy hair, roots be damned.

DON’T: Use Box Dye

If you want to be friends with your stylist after quarantine, we suggest you socially distance yourself from box dye. Instead, use powder touch up kits, glosses and color sticks to get your hair through to the other side. If you aren’t sure where to start, reach out to your stylist and ask for their recommendation. They will most likely be more than happy to recommend products, (and they’ll appreciate having one less color correction to do post-quarantine).

DO: Condition More

If you struggle with dry, damaged, brittle or aging hair, now is the perfect time to incorporate a great hair conditioner and mask into your routine. Without the pressure of having to be put together every day, you can leave conditioners in for an extra 10 minutes or even sleep in your hair mask. Look for a product rich in hydrating and conditioning ingredients, like our Thickening Conditioner, which nourishes, fortifies, and transforms hair to feel fuller, look thicker and perform better.

DON’T: Use Heat

Since most of us are staying home all day, it’s a great time to give your strands a break from the heat and embrace your natural hair texture. If that’s not possible, limit yourself to one hair tool when styling hair (i.e. Let hair airdry and then add curls, or blow dry hair but stay away from the flat iron and curling wand). You may have roots, but you’ll come out of quarantine with the healthiest hair ever.

DO: Treat Hair

Volume Enhancing Foam is the perfect product if you struggle with thinning hair, fine hair, or are just looking for a little extra volume. This breakthrough product features BioPeptin Complex®, our proprietary, breakthrough formula designed to intensify natural volume. Not only will it add shine, body and improve elasticity, but it will help combat breakage and condition the scalp. Essentially, it’s the perfect quarantine treatment.
